WHY I AM A PENTECOSTAL   by  R. J. Adams

(Acts 2:17-21 KJV)  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

(Mark 16:17-18 KJV)  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Some have wondered why I am a Pentecostal rather than belonging to some other denomination. Well, first of all because they have the best preaching. I noticed that early on in my church searching days in the 1970’s during the Jesus Movement. I wanted good inspired, fiery, teaching and preaching, and I found it in the Pentecostal Churches and in some of the on fire Baptist Churches, and believe me, I tried them all. I went through the phone book and visited every denomination before selecting a church home. To this day I primarily attend Pentecostal and Baptist churches. In worship though, the edge goes to the Pentecostals. If you love praise and worship, the place to be is in a spirit filled Pentecostal Church.

The second reason is because they (The Pentecostal Churches) preach and teach the whole word of God. They don’t normally sidestep or avoid some scriptures because they are difficult to explain or sometimes seem not to be for this time period. Let me explain by telling you a story about a Pentecostal Pastor in a church I attended for 12 years. One Sunday he came to the pulpit and said;

“I went to the Hospital this weekend to pray for brother Smith (not his real name) who was seriously ill. I prayed for his healing, and he died. But I want to tell you he said, If every person I ever pray for from now on dies I will never stop preaching what the scripture states, that “by His stripes we are healed.” I believe the bible is true and whatever we do not receive in this life we will most assuredly receive in the life to come.”

The Pentecostals dare to take a stand and pray in faith for things that are not as though they were, as did Abraham.

(Rom 4:16-17 NIV)  Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring--not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed--the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

(Rom 4:18-22 NIV)  Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be." Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead.  Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness."

The Pentecostal Churches preach the whole counsel of God even though many times it appears to be foolishness. Sometimes people go overboard in the flesh and do foolish things such as handling poisonous snakes unnecessarily. We are not to tempt the Lord by intentionally placing ourselves in danger and then demanding that God rescue us. Jesus proved that point.

(Mat 4:5-7 NIV)  Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: "'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

But, just because some people do foolish things, that in no way affects the truth of the Word of God.

(Titus 1:2 KJV)  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Well, you may ask, if the bible is true then how come everyone doesn’t get healed, or why doesn’t everyone have visions and dreams, and work miracles and speak in tongues, and be filled with love and joy and happiness all of the time, and why doesn’t every Pentecostal exhibit every gift and expression of the Holy Spirit right here and right now, today. Lets look at what the scriptures say to answer that question.

(Heb 11:4-7 KJV)  By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

(Heb 11:8-12 KJV)  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

Well, the only answer I can give to the previously mentioned question is what the scripture says:

(Heb 11:13 KJV)  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

(Gal 6:7-9 KJV)  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

(Heb 11:6 KJV)  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

The facts surrounding the heroes of faith whose deeds are recounted in Chapter 11 of the book of Hebrews shows that even these great men and women did not receive all of the promises God gave to them in their brief lifetimes on earth. Abraham and Sarah did not live to see their descendants become the Nation of Israel 400 plus years after their deaths. None of the great Patriarchs or Prophets lived to see the birth, death, resurrection and return of Jesus Christ, which is the central theme of the whole bible. But, just because it didn’t happen until in some cases thousands of years after their deaths, (and Christ’s return hasn’t happened even yet) it was no less true and right for them to believe and hold to all of God’s promises in faith during their lifetimes.

In the same way we of this generation can be accounted the same praise and honor as the heroes of faith if we hold fast to everything the Word of God says to be true, even if it never occurs during our lifetime.

I have personally never performed a miracle, never raised the dead, healed anyone of a deadly illness, drank poison and recovered, spoke in tongues, seen a vision or had a dream inspired by the Holy Spirit in which I saw the future, cast out a demon, conceived a child at 100 years old to a woman of 90, built an ark, made a blood sacrifice on an altar or been translated to heaven. But, even though I have never done any of these things, I believe the bible is true and they could happen to me, and many will, if not in this lifetime then during the millennium, or 1000 years after that in heaven.

Again, people have asked me, how can you be a Pentecostal if you haven’t spoke in tongues, handled some snakes, healed some folks or even cast out a few lowly demons? (Like maybe just a cigarette demon, or healed someone of a common cold.)

And my answer is: In exactly the same way I believe that I am perfect in God’s sight even though in the flesh I sin daily, and that is by faith. I have already received the promise of the Holy Spirit in all of his fullness by faith, as stated in Galatians 3:14 and Colossians 2:10, even though I have not yet exhibited all of the manifestations and gifts of the Holy Spirit in this body of flesh.

I would love to do any and / or all of those things listed in the spiritual gift list, and have prayed for the ability to do some of them for more than 30 years, but have not yet received the promise. But, someday I will, although as yet I do not know if it will be in this life or in the life to come.

(Heb 11:1-2 KJV)  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen . For by it the elders obtained a good report.

(Gal 3:14 NIV)  He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

(Gal 3:14 KJV)  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

(Col 2:9-10 NIV)  For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.

(Gal 5:5 KJV)  For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

(Gal 5:5 NIV)  But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope.

As Galatians 5:5 says, we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. In the mind of God, in his foreknowledge of the future, and in our minds by faith, we have it, we have the perfection of our bodies and total freedom from sin and every promise of God. But, like having money in the bank, but not having the cash in hand, we have righteousness by faith in Christ but we do not have sinless perfection and total healing in the fleshly body.

In the same manner I have everything that God has promised me. I have sinless perfection. I have many spiritual gifts, I have a mansion awaiting me, I have perfect health, (in spite of my bad back) I have perfect knowledge of God and his Word, I can work miracles, I can rule over cities, I can claim every promise in the bible and call what is not as though it was, because in the foreknowledge of God, it is, and will be.

(2 Cor 5:5 NIV)  Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
To God, the past, the present, and future are all the same. Time means nothing to God, because he is infinite and we, in this body of flesh are finite. By faith I can agree with God and everything in his Word, and imitating my maker, call things that are not as though they were. For that reason I can be a Pentecostal without having had the Charismatic gifts bestowed upon me yet. However, someday I will have them all for Paul says that eventually, we will all know, even as we are known. And, if you notice, this is his lead in to teaching about the charismatic gifts.

(1 Cor 13:12 KJV)  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

(1 Cor 13:13-14 NIV)  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.

(1 Cor 14:2-9 KJV)  For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

(1 Cor 14:10-17 KJV)  There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.  Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

(1 Cor 14:18-25 KJV)  I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

(1 Cor 14:26-33 KJV)  How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

(1 Cor 14:39-40 KJV)  Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.Let all things be done decently and in order.

(1 Cor 12:4-11 KJV)  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

(1 Cor 12:28-31 KJV)  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

Paul then goes on to write the Corinthians his famous chapter about love, 1st Corinthians chapter thirteen.

(2 Cor 1:22 KJV)  Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Now then, if we do not seem to have the power to exhibit the charismatic gifts yet in our spiritual journey, then how can we know that we have indeed received the Holy Spirit? We can know that we have indeed received the Holy Spirit is after we have made our commitment to Christ it happened to us as the scripture states, all things became new, our lives changed, and suddenly the bible began to make sense to us as we read it.

(2 Cor 5:17 NIV)  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

(1 Cor 2:14 KJV)  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

For most of us before the Holy Spirit came into us we had no desire to study God’s word, and even if we did it made no sense. The very next morning after I gave my life to Christ I began reading through the bible cover to cover and for the first time some of it made sense. Not all of it, but enough to know that something had drastically changed. Now the verses and promises in the bible applied to me personally and I could see the wisdom of following course laid out in it both in the Old Testament, especially in the book of Proverbs, and in the New Testament, especially the words of Jesus. Of course, the learning never stops in this life. There is so much wisdom and knowledge in the scriptures that one can never exhaust it all in this lifetime with our limited understanding abilities. We are constrained by a mind of flesh and blood, no one in this life will ever understand every verse of the bible in its complete and fullest meaning, but that doesn’t stop us from trying and continue to learn for all of our lives. Everything we learn makes our lives better and happier because we can come closer to being in god’s perfect will for our lives, and that is where joy and happiness resides.

(Gal 3:2-7 KJV)  This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

(Gal 5:22-23 KJV)  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Not every Christian has attained to the fruit of the Spirit mentioned above. There are grouchy Christians, depressed Christians, joyless Christians, proud Christians, sick or disabled Christians and even drunken Christians. Yet, rarely does anyone ever question their salvation or commitment to Christ because they are sick, irritated, sad or not very loving. Yet, if one has not exhibited all of the manifestations of the spiritual gifts, many would question a persons commitment to Pentecostalism.

(Eph 1:13-14 KJV)  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

(1 John 3:24 KJV)  And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1 John 4:13 KJV)  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

(Titus 3:5-7 KJV)  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

(Eph 1:13-14 NIV)  And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.

(Eph 6:18 NIV)  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Someday we will all be Pentecostals. During the Millennium we who rule and reign with Christ will be endued with Power from on high. The least in the Kingdom of heaven will be greater than John the Baptist, who was greater than all the prophets and even greater than the apostles. All of the Apostles were called out of sinful lives to become Jesus’ disciples, including the apostle Paul who was persecuting and assenting to the execution of Christians. John the Baptist however was filled with the Holy Spirit even in his mothers womb, served the Lord all of his life, never lived a life of sin, and gave his head on a platter knowing that he must decrease and be removed from the scene in ministry so Jesus stature could increase.

(Mat 11:11 NIV)  I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

I have not exhibited stigmata (miraculous Christ like wounds appearing in the hands and feet) yet by faith I have been Crucified with Christ.

(Gal 2:20 KJV)  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

When will we then receive our healings, our tongues, our fullness of spiritual gifts and know even as we are known? When indeed?

We will receive everything at the sounding of the seventh trumpet, at the last trump, the first resurrection or as it is commonly called in Pentecostal and Baptist circles, at the Rapture. At that time we will all receive our healing and the fullness of the power of the Holy Spirit.

(1 Cor 15:45-52 KJV)  And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

(1 Cor 15:53-58 KJV)  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

(Rev 10:7 KJV)  But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

(Rev 11:15-18 KJV)  And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Shortly after this, the Rapture or First Resurrection we will celebrate the Marriage supper of the Lamb for one year with Christ in Heaven as the seven bowls or vials of wrath are being poured out on earth.

(Deu 24:5 KJV)  When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

(Mat 5:18 KJV)  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

(Mat 5:18 NIV)  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Christ will fulfill every jot and tittle (like every comma and punctuation mark) of the Law (which Deuteronomy 24:5 is, a part of the Law) including spending one year with his bride, the saved of all ages.

(Rev 19:1-3 KJV)  And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

(Rev 19:4-9 KJV)  And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

(Rev 20:4-6 KJV)  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

(Rev 20:2-3 KJV)  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

At that time, after the marriage supper of the Lamb and during the millennium all of the scriptures about rewards and ruling and reigning with Christ in his kingdom will be fulfilled, including the parable below.

(Luke 19:11-27 NIV)  While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once. He said: "A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. 'Put this money to work,' he said, 'until I come back.' "But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, 'We don't want this man to be our king.' "He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it. "The first one came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned ten more.'  "'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.' "The second came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned five more.' "His master answered, 'You take charge of five cities.' "Then another servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.' "His master replied, 'I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? Why then didn't you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?' "Then he said to those standing by, 'Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.' "'Sir,' they said, 'he already has ten!' "He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me.'"

Christ will fulfill all of the scriptures, every jot and tittle or them and then return with his bride to earth and initiate the 1000 year millennial reign on earth. We will rule and reign with him and fulfill all of the scriptures concerning this time period both Old Testament and New Testament verses. Only those things pertaining to heaven and eternity will not be fulfilled during the millennium, but afterwards.

(Rev 7:9-12  KJV)  After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

(Rev 19:5-9 KJV)  And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

So, in conclusion, in the same way that we receive our salvation, by faith, we can all receive our healings and our spiritual gifts and manifestations of the spirit. Even if they are not outwardly evident at the present time, they will be evident and exercised at the marriage supper of the Lamb. At the marriage supper the saints of all ages, from Adam the first human created to the last saved person to die during the first six years of the tribulation period, all will be raised from the dead at the rapture, and will be praising and worshipping God in every tongue, both natural and spiritual. So, if you haven’t yet received your spiritual gift of a heavenly prayer language, don’t let that discourage you from being united with a church that believes that spiritual gifts are still being given by the Holy Spirit to the church today. If you haven’t received it yet, you will, if not in this life then in the life to come.

(Heb 10:35-38 NIV)  So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith . And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."
