PREFACE THIS BOOK, "AGAINST FALSE DOCTRINE," IS NOT MEANT TO SINGLE OUT AND CASTIGATE ANY PARTICULAR CHURCH OR ORGANIZATION. IT IS MEANT TO REBUKE ALL CHURCHES WHO HOLD TO "MAN MADE" DOCTRINES THAT ARE CONTRARY TO THE BIBLE AS THE PILLARS OF THEIR FAITH. THE BASIS OF FAITH SHOULD BE THOSE THINGS THAT ARE TAUGHT IN THE SCRIPTURES AND CLEARLY STATED THEREIN IN MORE THAN ONE VERSE. Matthew 15:8 NIV& 15:9 KJV "'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments ofmen. IT IS MY VIEW, AND THE VIEW OF MANY OTHER STUDENTS OF PROPHECY THAT IN THE END TIMES, WHICH WE ARE RAPIDLY APPROACHING, THE CHURCH WORLD WILL BE UNITED UNDER ONE HEAD, A MAN CALLED IN SCRIPTURE "THE FALSE PROPHET." HE WILL UNITE THE CHURCHES AND RELIGIONS OF THE WORLD USING MIRACLES BY DEMONIC POWER AND FALSE DOCTRINE THAT APPEALS TO WORLDLY WISDOM AND THE NEW AGE PHILOSOPHY TOACCOMPLISH THIS TASK. THIS BOOK IS MEANT TO GIVE WARNING TO THOSE WHO SEEK THE TRUTH AND TO HELP THEM AVOID FALLING INTO THE SNARES OF SATAN. WE WILLSTUDY WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN THE PAST TO SHOW HOW SATAN CRAFTILY PLANTS HIS TARES AMONG THE WHEAT. THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY IS TO ENABLE THE SPIRITUAL SEARCHER TO RECOGNIZE THE FALSE DOCTRINES THAT ARE ALREADY IN THE CHURCHES, AND IDENTIFY THOSE THAT WILL BE ADDED IN THE FUTURE. THIS BOOK IS NOT INTENDED FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH BASIC CHRISTIANITY. THIS WORK IS FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY HAVE A GOOD WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE SCRIPTURES AND DESIRE TO LEARN ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF IT'S DOCTRINES. NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK "COUNTDOWN TO 6000" I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO SO BEFORE READING THIS BOOK. THERE WILL BE MANY REFERENCES TO FUTURE PROPHETIC OCCURRENCES THAT WILL NOT BE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL IN THIS BOOK. AGAINST FALSE DOCTRINE
CHAPTER 1: THE DOCTRINE OF THE EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN THIS BOOK WE ARE GOING TO ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT WHAT THE EARLY CHURCH BELIEVED AND TAUGHT WHILE THE APOSTLES WERE STILL ALIVE, AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER. WE WILL BEGIN BY GOING BACK TO THE OLDEST NON BIBLICAL DOCUMENTS THAT WE CAN FIND THAT EXPLAIN THE BELIEFS OF THE EARLY CHRISTIANS. LOOKING AT THE CREEDS AND LETTERS OF THE EARLY CHURCH MAY SEEM TO BE A CONTRADICTION TO WHAT I WROTE IN THE PREFACE, THAT OUR FAITH SHOULD BE BASED UPON THE THINGS THAT ARE CLEARLY TAUGHT IN THE SCRIPTURES, BUT IT IS NOT. I WILL SHOW LATER FROM THE SCRIPTURES THEMSELVES, THAT JESUS HIMSELF VERIFIED THAT THE DOCTRINES OF THE EARLY CHURCH WERE PURE AND CORRECT, AT LEAST IN THE CITY OF EPHESUS. DURING THE NEARLY TWO THOUSAND YEARS THAT THE CHURCH HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE THERE HAS BEEN SO MUCH FALSE DOCTRINE INTRODUCED INTO THE CHURCH THAT IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR A PERSON TO DO A COMPLETELY NON PREJUDICED STUDY FROM THE SCRIPTURES TO FIND THE TRUTH. SO, IN ORDER FOR THOSE OF US WHO GREW UP IN THE CHURCH TO ESCAPE FROM THE POLLUTION OF TRADITION THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PLANTED IN OUR MINDS WE MUST GO BACK TO THE ANCIENT SOURCES AND FIND OUT WHAT WAS PREACHED AND TAUGHT WHEN THE CHURCH WAS NEWLY FORMED. THE "APOSTLES CREED" AND THE WORK "THE TEACHING OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES," ARE TWO OF THE OLDEST HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS OF THE EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH. IT IS INTERESTING TO READ THEM AND SEE WHAT THE EARLY CHURCH BELIEVED, BEFORE THE TRADITIONS OF MEN CREPT INTO CHURCH DOCTRINE. Jude 1:3 KJV Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. WE NEED THEN TO FIND OUT, WHAT EXACTLY WAS "THE FAITH THAT WAS ONCE DELIVERED UNTO THE SAINTS." |
| THE APOSTLES CREED HERESY The term heresy comes from the Greek word meaning "to choose" and generally refers to the willful rejection of the normative doctrines of a group by a member of that group. The history of Christianity is bound up with the history of heresy because the historic orthodox Creeds were formulated to correct what were believed to be erroneous teachings. The result of these early struggles was the emergence of the rule of faith embodied in what is now called the Apostles' Creed. Almost every line of this creed is directly aimed at some important heresy. The Software Toolworks Encyclopedia It is affirmed by Ambrose "that the twelve Apostles, as skillful artificers assembled together, and made a key by their common advice, that is the creed; by which the darkness of the devil is disclosed, that the light of Christ may appear." It is believed that each disciple wrote one line of this creed. (Ambrose was an early writer of church history) 1. Peter, I believe in God the Father Almighty; 2. John, Maker of heaven and earth; 3. James, And in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord; 4. Andrew, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary; 5. Philip, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; 6. Thomas, He descended into hell, the third day he rose again from the dead; 7. Bartholomew, He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; 8. Matthew, From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead; 9. James Alpheus, I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church; 10. Simon Zealot, The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins; 11. Jude, The resurrection of the body; 12. Matthias, Life everlasting, Amen" (Quoted from "The Lost Books of the Bible." Collins World Publishers) THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THE APOSTLES WERE ACTUALLY INVOLVED IN THE MAKING OF THIS CREED. NEVERTHELESS, IT IS INDEED AN EARLY CHURCH DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTS THE TRUE TEACHINGS OFTHE SCRIPTURES. THIS DOCUMENT WOULD BE A GOOD FOUNDATION FOR THE UNITY OF TRUE BELIEVERS, AS IS TAUGHT IN THE SCRIPTURES. John 17:23 NIV May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 1 Corinthians 1:10 NIV I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that youmay be perfectly united in mind and thought. Ephesians 4:12 NIV "so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God" THIS IS TRUE SO LONG AS IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE APOSTLES CREED PERTAINS TO GOD THE FATHER AND JESUS CHRIST, AND NOT TO SATAN, THE FATHER OF LIES AND HIS ANTICHRIST. John 8:44 NIV You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. I MENTION THIS BECAUSE SOMEDAY THERE WILL BE UNITY AMONG TRUE BELIEVERS AND ALSO A UNION OF FALSE RELIGIONS. DEPENDING UPON THEINTERPRETATION BOTH GROUPS COULD ACTUALLY USE THE SAME CREED, THE TRUE GROUP DIRECTING THE MEANING OF IT TOWARD GOD AND JESUS CHRIST AND THE FALSE GROUP DIRECTING THE MEANING TOWARDSATAN AND HIS ANTICHRIST. BASIC CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES FROM THE SCRIPTURES PAUL, IN THE BOOK OF FIRST CORINTHIANS, GIVES US IN A FEW VERSES, A SUMMARY OF THE BASIC DOCTRINES OF CHRISTIANITY. DOCTRINE #1: WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH, BY BELIEVING THE GOSPEL. 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 NIV Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, youhave believed in vain. DOCTRINE #2: CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS, AS PREDICTED IN THE SCRIPTURES. 1 Corinthians 15:3 NIV For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, DOCTRINE #3: CHRIST WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD ON THE THIRD DAY. 1 Corinthians 15:4 NIV that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, DOCTRINE #4: THERESURRECTION WAS VERIFIED BY THE FACT THAT CHRIST WAS SEEN ALIVE BY MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE AFTER HIS RESURRECTION. 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 NIV and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, thento all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, asto one abnormally born. DOCTRINE #5: THERE WILL BE A RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD. 1 Corinthians 15:21-23 NIV For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each inhis own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. DOCTRINE #6: THEEND OF THIS PRESENT AGE WILL COME AND CHRIST WILL REIGN OVER HEAVEN AND EARTH, AFTER HE HAS SUBDUED ALL OF THEENEMIES OF GOD. 1 Corinthians 15:24-25 NIV Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has putall his enemies under his feet. DOCTRINE #7: DEATH WILL BE DESTROYED, WE WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. 1 Corinthians 15:26 NIV The last enemy to be destroyed is death. DOCTRINE #8: CHRIST WILL PRESENT THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING IN IT TO GOD THE FATHER, AND ALL CREATION WILL BE IN UNITY WITH GOD. 1 Corinthians 15:27-28 For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who puteverything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. THIS IS A SIMPLEOUTLINE OF THE BASIC TENETS OF CHRISTIANITY, FROM THE BIBLE. THE DOCTRINE OF BAPTISM IN THE EARLY CHURCH The ordinance was regarded in the ancient church as the sacrament of new birth, or regeneration, and as the solemn rite of initiation into the Christian Church, admitting to all her benefits, and committing to all her obligations. It was to be preceded by repentance and faith (conversion) and instruction in the basic doctrines of the church, being a more detailed explanation of the items mentioned above in the Apostles Creed. This could be accomplished in a few hours, and a new convert could be baptized the same day if he so desired. Adult baptism was the rule in the ancient church. It was St. Augustine, writing in the fourth century after Christ, who taught that all unbaptized infants are damned. The early church believed that babies who died in infancy would be saved even though they had not been baptized. The early Christians also believed that although baptism was the normal channel through which grace flowed, God was not necessarily bound by it. Many new believers were martyred before theyever had a chance to be baptized. The early church said thatthose who were martyred had been baptized in a baptism of blood. When Peter preached to the Jews on the day of Pentecost, and his hearers asked him, "what shall we do," He replied, "repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins." After repentance, conversion, instruction and baptism, a new convert was permitted to partake in the Lord's Supper, and was expected to live a Godly life. Excerpted from the book "Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up," By David W. Bercot,Scroll Publishing. THE LETTER FROM THE APOSTLES TO THE GENTILES Galatians 1:1-2 NIV Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead--and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: Galatians 1:11-12 NIV I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. Galatians 1:18-20 NIV Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days.I saw none of the other apostles--only James, the Lord's brother. I assure you before God that what I am writing you isno lie. Galatians 2:1-2 NIV Fourteen years later I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. I went in response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did this privately to those who seemed to be leaders, for fear that I was running or hadrun my race in vain. Acts 15:1-2 NIV Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved." This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with someother believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. PAUL, IN RESPONSE TO A REVELATION FROM GOD, AND AT THE REQUEST OF THE GENTILE CHRISTIANS, WENT UP TO JERUSALEM TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE GENTILES SHOULD OBEY THE JEWISH CEREMONIAL LAWS. THIS COUNCIL CONVENED IN THE YEAR 50 A. D., 20 YEARS AFTER THE ASCENSION OF CHRIST, ACCORDING TO THE "CHRONOLOGICAL BIBLE." Acts 15:3-6 NIV The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the brothers very glad. When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church andthe apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them. Then some of the believers who belonged to theparty of the Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must becircumcised and required to obey the law of Moses." The apostles and elders met to consider this question. Acts 15:13-14 NIV When they finished, James spoke up: "Brothers, listen to me. Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself. Acts 15:19-20 NIV "It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. Acts 15:22-23 NIV Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders among the brothers. With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings. Acts 15:28-31 NIV It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell. The men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. Acts 21:25 NIV As for the Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they should abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality." A DOCUMENT KNOWNAS THE DIDACHE WAS BEING CIRCULATED IN THE CHURCH BETWEEN 60 AND 150 AD, AND IS THE EARLIEST INSTRUCTION MANUAL THAT WE HAVE PRESERVED FROM THE FIRST CENTURY CHURCH. THE DIDACHE, WHICH IN GREEK MEANS "THE TEACHING" MAY BETEACHING BASED ON THE LETTER THAT RESULTED FROM THE MEETING OF PAUL, BARNABAS, AND THE APOSTLES IN JERUSALEM. IN ANYCASE, IT IS THE OLDEST NON BIBLICAL DOCUMENT THAT WE HAVE FOUND TO DATE THAT CONTAINS A LARGE QUANTITY OF THE TEACHINGS OF THE EARLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH. THE DIDACHE The Didache, also called The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, is a brief manual of the early Christian church. It was probably written in Syria during the second half of the 1st century, although some scholars suggest a 2d-century composition. The first part is a moral treatise describing the way of the good andthe way of evil. The second part contains instructions on baptism, fasting, prayer, the Eucharist, matters of church organization, apostles, prophets, bishops, and deacons. The Software Toolworks Encyclopedia THE DIDACHE (Greek meaning "THE TEACHING") (also known as) THE TEACHING OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES The teaching of the Lord to the Gentiles by the twelve apostles. THE WAY OF LIFE 1. There are twoways, one of life and one of death, and there is a great difference between the two ways. 2. Now this is the way of life: first, "you shall love God who made you", second, your neighbor as yourself, and whatever you do not wish to happen to you, do not do to another. 3. Bless those who curse you, and pray for your enemies. 4. Abstain from Physical and body cravings. 5. Give to everyone who asks you, and do not demand it back. Blessed is every one who gives for he is innocent. Woe to the one who receives if he does not need it, for he will have to explain why and for what purpose he received. 6. Let your giftsweat in your hand until you know to whom to give it 7. You shall notmurder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not corrupt boys, you shall not be sexually promiscuous, you shall not steal, you shall not practice magic, you shall not engage in sorcery, you shall not abort achild or commit infanticide. You shall not covet your neighbors possessions, you shall not commit perjury, you shall not givefalse testimony, you shall not speak evil, you shall not holda grudge. 8. You shall notbe double minded or double tongued. Your word must not be false or meaningless, but confirmed by action. You shall not be greedy or avaricious, or a hypocrite, or malicious, or arrogant. You shall not hatch evil plots against your neighbor. You shall not hate anyone, instead you shall reprove some, pray for some, and some you shall love more than your own life. 9. Flee from evil of every kind, and from everything resembling it. Do not become angry for anger leads to murder. Do not be Jealous or quarrelsome or hot tempered, for all these things breed murders. Do not be lustful, for lust leads to fornication. Do not be foul mouthed or let your eyes roam, for all these things breed adultery. Do not be an Augur (a fortune teller) since it leads to idolatry. Do not be an enchanter or an astrologer or a magician,or even desire to see one, for all these things lead to idolatry. 10. Do not be a liar, for lying leads to theft. Do not greedy or conceited, for these things breed thefts. Do not be a grumbler, since it leads to blasphemy. Do not be arrogant or evil minded, for all these things breed blasphemies. 11. Instead be humble, for the humble shall inherit the earth. Be patient and merciful, and innocent, and quiet, and good, and always revere the words which you have heard. Do not exalt yourself or permit your soul to become arrogant. Your soul shall not associate with the lofty, but live with the righteous andhumble. Accept as good the things that happen to you, knowing that nothing transpires apart from God. 12. Remember theone who preaches God's word to you and honor him as though he were the Lord, wherever the Lord's nature is preached, there the Lord is. Moreover you shall seek out daily the Lord's saints, that you may find support in their words. Youshall not cause division, but shall make peace between those who quarrel. You shall judge righteously, and do not waver withregard to your decisions. 13. Do not be someone who stretches out his hands to receive, but withdraws them when it comes to giving. You shall not hesitate to give, nor shall you grumble when you give, for you shall yet come to know who is the good paymaster of the reward. You shall not withhold your hand from your son or your daughter, but from their youth you shall teach them the fear of God. 14. You shall hate all hypocrisy, and everything that is not pleasing to the Lord. You must not forsake the Lord's commandments, but must guard what you have received, neither adding norsubtracting anything. In the church you shall confess your transgressions, and you shall not approach your prayer with an evil conscience. This is the way of life. THE WAY OF DEATH But the way of death is this: First of all it is evil and completely cursed; murders, adulteries, lusts, fornications, thefts, idolatries, magic arts, sorceries, robberies, false testimonies, hypocrisy, duplicity, arrogance, malice, stubbornness, greed, foul speech, jealousy, audacity, pride, boastfulness. It is the way ofpersecutors of good people, of those hating truth, loving a lie, not knowing the reward of righteousness, notadhering to what is good or to righteous judgment, being on the alert, not for what is good, but for what is evil, from whomgentleness and patience are far away, loving worthless things, pursuing reward, having no mercy for the poor, not working on behalf of the oppressed, not knowing him who made them, murderers of children, corrupters of God's creation, turning away from someone in need, oppressing the afflicted, advocates of the wealthy, lawless judges of the poor, utterly sinful. May you be delivered children, from all these things. PRAYER When you pray, do not pray like the hypocrites. Instead pray like this, just as the Lord commanded in his Gospel. Our father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debt, as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one; for yours is the power and the glory forever. Pray like this three times a day. THE FUTURE Watch over your life: do not let your lamps go out, and do not be unprepared, but be ready, for you do not know the hour when our Lord is coming. Gather together frequently, seeking the things that benefit your souls, for all the time you have believed willbe of no use to you if you are not found perfect in the lasttime. For in the last days the false prophets and corrupters willabound, and the sheep will be turned into wolves, and love will be turned into hate. For as lawlessness increases, they will hateand persecute and betray one another. And then the "Deceiver ofthe World" will appear as a son of God and will perform signs and wonders, and the earth will be delivered into his hands, and hewill commit abominations the likes of which have never happenedbefore. Then all humankind will come to the fiery test, and many will fall away, and perish; but those who endure to the end in their faith will be saved. And then there will appear the signs of the truth: First the sign of an opening in heaven, then the sign of the sound of a trumpet, and third, the resurrection of the dead, but not all of the dead, rather as it has been said, "the Lord will come, and all his saints with him." Then the world will see the Lord coming upon the clouds of heaven. THIS WAS NOT THECOMPLETE TEXT OF "THE TEACHING OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES".
